This article will give you information about how to capture the data exchanged between the PC and your PBX via Ethernet connections (TCP/IP).
Capturing exchanged data
First download and install WireShark. Just click next and let the installer do the job with the default settings. You must run it as an administrator user.
- Be sure that you are not connected to the pbx with any other software (Management Console, telnet, or others
- In PbxMon > Options uncheck Activate monitoring and press OK.
- Start WireShark
- Go to Capture > Options to open Capture Options dialog.
- Select the network interface used to connect to the PBX unit.
- Press Capture Filter button
- Press New button
- Write "My PBX" at the filter name
- Write "host 192.168.0.100" at the filter string. (Replace the IP address here with your PBX IP.)
- Press OK to close the filter editor.
- Press the Browse... button and choose a filename and location for the captured data, let's say "C:\my_capture.pcap".
- Press the Start button.
- In PbxMon > Options check "Activate monitoring" and press OK.
- Now, wait for a while in order to receive some data, you can even make a call in order to be sure that at least one call was made during the capturing period.
- Now, in WireShark access Capture > Stop.
- Send us the file captured in order to analyze it.
Scanning the PBX for open ports
Follow this step only at our requests in order to be able to detect the opended TCP/IP ports of your PBX. Install NMap for Windows and run it.
Open command line prompt: Start > Run > cmd and Enter.
At command prompt execute cd "C:\Program Files\Nmap\"
Execute cd "C:\Program Files\Nmap\"
